wooden clogs

Got this wooden clogs from Steve Madden a few months back, and i have been using them every chance I get!! and well, for these reasons, they're light and super comfortable to walk in, they go with almost anything i wear, and they're just one of the few shoes i brought home. Boohoo still waiting for 10 of my shoes to arrive. Or will they ever reach Philippines, maybe I'd see them the next time I go back to the States? HAHA!! grrr. >,<

cheap thrills

I was never really fond of make up, until my Aunt tagged me along to the big department stores where beauty assistants offer to do you a make over, one I remember most is from Napoleon Perdis at the Westfield Mall in San Francisco, he taught me that I needed to apply concealer and eyeliner and a bit of tint on my cheeks and lips then I got instantly hooked with Michelle Phan's youtube videos and a whole lot of people making tutorials too.
To make the long story short, I have researched my way to the make up world, and being jobless and relying my mom for financial support, I have worked my way on where to scrimp or spend. For now I'd be sharing my favorite DRUGSTORE MAKE UPS and Whether to SAVE or SPLURGE on an item, I'm no beauty expert, I just share from my own experience, and hope it helps you too. =)

Foundation:
Splurge on Foundations but this drugstore find could be an alternative you would love

Neutrogena Mineral Sheer Liquid Make up - it feels so light you won't even notice you have foundation on! Highly recommended =)
id Bare Mineral Essentials foundation and mineral veil - they give the right amount of coverage and doesn't look cakey, trust me, you'll look flawless day and night.

Blush:
Splurge on Blush, Bronzers and Powders
Why?
Luxury powders have been pulverized to such a degree that you can layer and layer without ever looking like a clown, according to Marie Claire beauty editor, Didi Gluck in the magazine.

My best purchase yet is my Nars Orgasm and Laguna Duo, they both are the perfect team.
One thing I also have in my make up drawer is a blush/brozer from Models Prefer which gives me a beautiful instant glow.

Mascara and eyelash curlers:
SAVE!

Maybelline, Loreal and Revlon has come up with equally great Mascara.

Maybelline Lash Stilleto - this would make your eyes pop and bright

Revlon Extra Curl Eyelash curlers - not ready to splurge with Shu Uemura? This can be right at your side and does i's job perfectly.

Eyeshadow and Eyeliner:
SAVE on Eyeliner and on Eyeshadow, although some people swear by expensive eyeshadows to last all night, like the Dior 5 Colour eye palette, I am a strong believer on saving on eyeshadows and SPLURGING on primers, I have used Urban Decay Primer Potion and through the night my MILANI Runway Eyes palette stayed on and feirce! Loreal deCrease is the cheaper alternative.

I am equally inlove with Maybelline's 2in1 instant eyeshadow and liner too, very smooth and easy to apply. But i seriously regret not getting the $16 Harajuku liquid pen liner. It was dark, easy to apply and comes in a whole lot different colors. Now I wish I used my head that time. =(

Face Primer:
Rimmel Fix and Perfect face primer
Do we really need it? I only put it on if I go out to parties at night or something that requires dressing up, perhaps it holds the foundation longer and maybe a less oily skin. One thing you could also use is MONISTAT Chafing gel as face primer. I have read a lot of good reviews. You can read more about it HERE.

So here are some of the things I have tried and I hope it helps you if you are just starting to use make up. Try experimenting first and work you way up the ladder. Practice makes perfect and you'll find the perfect ones for your skin too.

you get everything you want after all...

I have long been gone from the blog world, though I try my best to do blog walking from time to time, at one point in my life, i thought i'd give up this blog but more often I think that it was a big part of my person that I just can't let go, although right now I am more focused on reviewing for the board exams for nursing which will be on December. Don't get me wrong, I do love dressing up and all sorts, I still can't sleep thinking of that perfect pair of shoes or dress, or accessory. I still religiously read fashion magazines and style books but I think I just have to cut back on some things and know my priorities.
I recently got back from a 3 month trip to the US and oh boy, the shopping experience was beyond awesome, it's always different when you're independent, you know what you want and you're mom's bank account backs you up..

I'd try to recall my 2010 wish list....
On this post, you get everything you want after all...

good food and a happy tummy

It's time for me to share about the food. Everything was well provided all the time at cruise ship and... room service is free, always good food at your reach.

smoked duck

tiger prwans

lamb

chicken tenders in thai sauce

and good desserts

For now all I can think of is dieting after pigging out and having to think about what to eat 24 hours a day for 7 days.

cruisin'

I have been disconnected from the internet for a week!! I went away on a vacation to the Caribbean! It was a 7 day cruise with the Carnival Dream ship. It's humongous, it is Carnival's largest ship and it's the 2nd largest in the world!! They were like 4000+ guests and 1000+ crew members on board but you barely see people crowding. I must say it was the best vacation I've had so far. We went to Cozumel, where the water was so blue I felt like it connected with the sky, next was Carnival's island in Isla Roatan Hondurras, it was just perfect for a lazy day in the beach, and we went snorkeling in Belize where the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world is and finally, I celebrated my 21st birthday in Costa Maya, Mexico. Everything was a great experience I would never forget.

In the ship, you would never get bored, there are always a lot of activities, at night there are always shows in the theater like street dancing, broadway, juggling, and a magic show. The food is beyond delicious, there are a lot of choices, there is a 24 hour international buffet and a sit down restaurant.

It was an overall the best experience, so if you're an eye for vacation, consider cruising as an option.

Nikon lens review

This post will serve as a review for the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 I recently got.

I am not good with photography at all but I wanted nice pictures with blurry background, after reading several reviews and after several months contemplating between the 50mm, I finally decided to get the 35mm.
For these 2 main reasons:
1. 50mm is too near for me if I want to take indoor photos, there would be more backing up and adjusting
2. 50mm is not a DX lens and cannot auto focus, although a lot of people like it better to focus manually, i think it's always better to have an option

So they are finally here. Photos below are my test shots, trying out how the bokeh effect would turn out and all that. I just want nicer and sharper pictures and I think I have found the answer. This is a good lens for beginners or those who wants blurry pictures on a budget. I got this for $197

f stop at 1.8

first shot with the lens, i love the sharpness of the picture

pictures are unedited and straight out from the camera

And I am currently reading everything about photography from my ipod, an application I downloaded - dSLR toolkit for dummies, it is very helpful for beginners/dummies like me, it also has specific exposure calculator for every event or setting you are shooting and a whole lot of photography tips. I got my money's worth for 99 cents. =)

sheer madness

Sorry for the hiatus. School is finally out and I have been dealing with my everyday life left and right. Finishing up things before I leave for the US. I will get back to regular posting as soon as I get everything sorted out.

For now, I leave you with this not really old pictures, they were taken maybe 2 weeks ago when our batch had a "farewell" party few days before graduation. It was basically a pool party with a dj, lots of booze and drunk undergrads, singing, dancing and having fun like crazy.

(the pictures are not decent. at all!! my friend is not really oriented in taking pictures with the DSLR camera. so yeah, they came out dark and blurry)

light as a feather... soft as a cotton

Hey blogworld!! I miss posting... It's very strange of me but lately I have been detached with my computer. I haven't touched it for days. Well, I have been doing nothing actually, by nothing I mean jogging in the morning, graduation practices whole day, sleeping and playing with my ipod all through out the day. I get to access twitter and facebook so I don't really bother using my laptop anymore. Boohoo! Well enough of this nonsense.

Saturday is graduation, I leave for the States on the 15th for 3 whole friggin' months! I can't wait to see family, eat good food, rest, stay away from the heat, and SHOP! I will be traveling alone (Manila-US) for the first time! and uh, I'm kinda' envisioning my comfy 12hour plane ride outfit already.

I will be making use of whatever I have in my closet, work on pieces I can use over and over again and are easy to "wash and wear". (There'd be no one to iron my clothes in the States!)
MUST REMEMBER: Pack LIGHT!

Perfect outfit: slouchy shirt, blazer, comfy/sweat pants. Here are some of my inspirtations

PROENZA

ELIE TAHARI

RAG AND BONE

A.WANG

Could this be my slightest chance to layer, wear blazers and THE leather jacket I have been lusting about ever since.

So you, YES! You!
Where are you headed this summer?
